What’s the BEST thing you should be doing right now?
I just asked myself that question, and oddly enough, writing this article wasn’t the answer. But because the thought came to mind (purposefully so), I had to jot a few words down. (Read This: How to Get Shit Done)
That question should guide your life.
It should be asked in every area of your life, not just business, but family time, exploration time, hobby time, training time, eating time.
It’s that question that will lead you to be effective. And a person who works on the things that will yield the most optimal results is primed to be an insanely successful person because the reality is that the VAST majority of us do not do the BEST thing, or partake in the BEST use of our time.
Instead, we just do what we think we “should” do, without actually thinking about the validity of the task.
There can only be one…
The thing about “the most important” or the BEST task that you can focus on in a given moment is that there can only be one thing. There cannot be two areas of focus, two tasks. The term “two birds with one stone” is a fallacy.
You can’t focus on more than one thing just like you can’t have more than one priority. (Read This: Find Happiness Through Simplicity and Focus)
Thus, to focus on something that isn’t going to yield the best returns takes you away from that single thing that would make your business, day, and life more successful.
So choose wisely, and ask that question daily.
Ask that question when you’re sitting down to start your day. Ask that question when you get home from work and you have time with the family. Ask that question in LIFE – what’s the best use of your time?
What is the single thing you should be giving most of your energy to?
What is the single thing that, if you do it well, will yield the highest returns.
Is there a product you should be working on but keep putting off?
Is there a skill you want to learn that you’ve always wanted to learn?
Is there a training regimen that will help you more than whatever it is you’re doing right now?
This question is one of the most important questions you can ask, yet few really ask it.
We live out lives doing what we think we should do, never doing what we MUST DO to bring the success we CRAVE.
With that, I have to get back to my “one thing”. HUSTLE!
