Some of the perks of being fit.
I love being in the best shape of my life. I’ve gained 30 lbs of muscle over the past year and a half and I’m loving it. I’m also loving life.
Confidence often comes from having a body you’re comfortable in. I wasn’t comfortable being 150 lbs. I didn’t want to take my shirt off at the beach and I couldn’t find clothes that really fit my frame. I wanted a shirt that fit snug around the shoulders and arms, and if I found one it was more embarrassing than satisfying. It just highlighted the fact that I was a tooth pick.
I’m confident with the body I have now. Like everyone I still nit pick here and there, but I think that’s human nature more than anything. If you’re not nit picking at something then I’m guessing you’re a little delusional. We can all see the flaws in our body’s even if other people can’t.
When I say I’m also enjoying life I mean that in every sense. Gaining an extra 30 lbs of lean muscle has helped grow my personal training business, and allowed me to start this site.
I’m guessing none of you would listen to a skinny guy weighing 150 lbs talking about gaining muscle, true?
I love working on this site, providing you with free workouts, tips, even daily thoughts. It has become something I look forward to every day.
One of the best parts about having a body that I’m comfortable in is I can enjoy the guilty pleasures in life without feeling guilty. I enjoy a good cigar, I don’t smoke them weekly but I do enjoy having one while relaxing or on the golf course. I drink beer, wine, and have the occasional sweets, all in moderation of course.
I can go on a two week vacation, not workout one day I’m there, and come back and pick up right where I left off. I’ve put the work in, and I’ve learned how hard you have to work when you’re in the gym to really see benefits.
When I’m in the gym I’m strictly business. No chatting, watching tv, laughing with friends, I’m there to keep what I’ve worked so hard to get and grow upon the base that I’ve built.
Is maintaining easier than building? I’d say so for sure. You’re gaining the knowledge of how your body works when you’re on a quest to add muscle. You’ve put yourself through the ringer to get the body you’ve always wanted and now you know when you need rest, when you need to concentrate on one muscle group a bit more than the others.
Your mind is free from the worry of whether you can or can’t when you’ve developed the body you’ve always wanted. You know you can. You have a physique you and women like. It’s a good feeling.
Confidence is a funny thing. When you don’t have it you can’t really be yourself, you’re always worried about what others think, you don’t just let loose and enjoy life. But when you do have it things change. You’re comfortable enough to approach a girl and be yourself, the worrying dissipates and the real you is allowed to shine.
I think that’s what’s most powerful about fitness. It’s a means to an end. It’s a means to being healthier, living longer, being more confident which in turn allows you to live life the way it’s supposed to be lived.
So, get off your ass and get that body you’ve always wanted! Start living the life you’ve always dreamed of!
Good Luck!
