The meaning of life: part 1

Men (women included of course) have been exploring this question since the beginning of time, so I figure why not explore it a bit more?

What is the meaning of life?

Well, let’s come at it from a different angle. What gives one’s life meaning?

There are a lot of things that I think give meaning or purpose to someone’s life.

There’s exploring your own boundaries or limitations, there’s the spiritual aspect of life, there’s plain old hard work and the satisfaction you receive from knowing you’re doing your best.

There’s also the satisfaction of reaching a goal, or providing for your family and taking care of the one’s you love more than anything in the world.

I’ll take a look at a few of these over this series of articles, and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the topic. What brings meaning or a sense of purpose to your life?

To have someone you’d do anything for.

This someone can be the girl of your dreams, it can also be an idea or a set of value’s that you stand by.

But I take a look at the people around me who are living with a purpose, even the great people throughout history, and they all have something in common: someone or something they would do anything for.

Some call it a soul mate, other’s see as it as someone they meet and build a relationship with, for other’s it’s their children or parents. But no matter how you look at it, it’s one of the greatest gifts you could ever receive: someone who means so much to you that you would stop at nothing to make sure they’re safe, happy, and getting the best they could possibly get out of this life that could be here one minute, and gone the next.

To have someone to share with, to grow with, even to fight with, to take care of or to laugh with is a gift that you should hold close and appreciate like you’d appreciate your last breathe.

They’re someone that you think of before you think of yourself, but also someone who motivates you to be the absolute best person that you could possibly be, because you know they deserve nothing less.

To have someone that you’d do absolutely anything in this world for brings life in to focus. They help you see what’s most important.

Some have a few people that fit into this category, parents, a girlfriend, family, and friends. But to even have one is something to gloat about and is definitely something that gives even more meaning and purpose to life, which is why it’s the first thing that came to mind when I thought about the meaning of life. It’s something beyond just yourself.
