Don’t lose meaning in your life in the pursuit of things that really don’t matter much in the end. We hunt down our goals and our ideal car or house or job, and we neglect the things that will bring us true happiness and value. We neglect our family, we put them on the back-burner, and wonder why we’re so unhappy when we get the other things we want in life.
Work your ass off not for you but in the pursuit of becoming a better man; a better man for those you want to protect and defend and love in this life.
We spend so much damn time wishing we lived a different life, in someone else’s shoes, in a different time, that we never do what we can with what we have. We blame others for everything, never accepting things as they are and changing them.
There’s nothing else you can do but accept your reality, your situation, then do the best you can with what you’ve been blessed with.
The things we can do without in life are under our control to remove.
We can have everything we need in life, if we’d just acquire some discipline.
We chase money and things and goals, but meaning escapes us. We’re bred to breed. Carrying on our name with a lovely lady that we honor and defend is what we’re made for. Money isn’t in our blood, we’re hunters and gatherers and defenders.
We talk about goals and dreams a lot on this site, but there is no grander goal than to find a lady, love her, and make babies with her, then be the best father to those babies that you can possibly be.
Forget about what you do for a living, but why you do it and who you do it for.
It’s why you do it and who you do it for that gives the work honor and purpose.
Being the best you can be isn’t about you. It’s about him or her, the wee one you’re raising and inspiring and teaching.
There is no job that’s better than another job. No way of making a living that’s better than any other.
The garbage man who takes pride in his work and does it for his family is equal to the CEO who does the same if he does it for the same reasons. If he makes a billion a year and fucks around on his lady, then the garbage man is clearly the better man, the stronger man, and though the CEO has the dollar bills he’s a pussy and will be treated as such when the time comes.
Cowards make most of our laws.
Try starting a business in Canada and you’ll be fed a sea of red tape making it nearly impossible to create what you had in mind and what will likely serve people well.
Rules don’t keep us safe, they inhibit us from living.
Rules for life part II
Read often. Do what scares the shit out of you, without telling everyone you’re doing it. Do it for the thrill. The meaning. Hunt down the man you want to become and live life on your own terms.
