Add weighted exercises to your abs routine
It wasn’t until I started treating my abs like every other muscle, that I started seeing some real results. Even if you’re just after getting a flat stomach, or toning, mixing in some weighted exercises is going to help build the muscle and burn the fat around your mid section.
In the video are 2 exercises that I have found extremely effective in training my abs. Add these and other weighted exercise into your routine in supersets – back to back with no rest – or even giant sets – 3 exercises as a superset. Mixing a weighted exercise with a non-weighted or body weight exercise is also very effective. Do the weighted exercise until failure, then finish off your set with a bodyweight exercise like I have done in the video.
I used to think a routine consisting of all bodyweight exercises that were high in reps was the way to go when it came to abs training, but when I started adding weight, the muscles started growing. If you want to lean out, don’t forget you’re not going to get a six-pack simply by doing the right exercises, you also have to have the right diet. Eating “clean” is a must, so is consuming less calories than you’re burning. You need a caloric deficit to really get that mid section lean and those muscles showing.
Let me know if you’re sore after your first workout with these exercises!
Good luck,
Chad
