Cigars and good people: 2 things to be passionate about.
Why waste your time on things you’re not passionate about?
It’s useless. There are things that are necessary, but I’m talking about the things you just do for no reason and end up spending hours doing them.
I read an interesting article on Nate Green‘s blog, which happens to be one of my favorite blogs, called “Do you have the life for that?”
To sum it up it’s about time management, but more importantly making yourself available to spend time on important things rather than the unimportant things that so often fill our days. It’s a great article, give it a read when you get the chance.
Here’s the first part of “7 things I’m passionate about“. I put goals within these things as well. I’ve found over the years that goals are much more likely to be reached when they have emotions attached to them. This is great for your fitness goals but also career, relationship and lifestyle goals as well.
1. People
One of the most important things I’ve learned over the past year is the importance of people.
I like to do things on my own, to go my own way, to make my own path; but I’ve learned how to bring others in to what I’m doing, learn from them and hear what they have to say. It makes learning a lot more fun and far more effective.
People encompass or are a part of almost everything I want to get done this year, and most goals I have for the foreseeable future for that matter.
This site is for you, to help you get in the best shape you possibly can and still enjoy your life while doing so. It’s also for me, I love writing, getting my thoughts and ideas out into a platform such as this, and also to get feedback and input. I put my knowledge and my ideas down and hearing something from another perspective is amazing.
I’m passionate about helping people get in great shape, I’m also passionate about spending time with people I care about, meeting new people and learning from others. Everyone has something they can teach someone else, a different perspective and a different story to tell.
It’s in my bucket list, but I want to travel and Europe is the place that’s been on my mind for the longest. I can’t wait to see a place where people have been building and living for thousands of years, I find it so interesting and can’t wait to get there.
2. Writing
I’ve always loved to write but this blog has brought it to a whole new level. I get to write down and share whatever’s on my mind and show you what has worked for me and my clients.
I have 2 goals with regards to writing over the next year or two. The first is the ebook that I’m working on. I want to get it done and get it out there to you guys. I’ve got some good stuff down so far and I’m really excited about how it’s coming together.
Another thing I’d eventually like to do is write a book. Most likely a fitness based book but with thoughts and ideas expressed in it as well, kinda like this blog.
3. Learning
I’ve learned so much over this past year it’s ridiculous. Travelling falls into this category big time.
There’s so much to learn when you travel, travelling itself is basically a learning experience, an experience where you’re eyes get opened just a bit more each time.
Business is where I’ve learned the most and have the most to learn. I’ve learned that providing value is what separates a successful business from its competitors, but also a successful person from someone who isn’t.
I want to get out to another seminar or two. I went to the fitness business summit last year and learned a ton, but I’d like to get another one this year.
Answer this question for me if you could:
What do you guys need to know? What are you having trouble with in the gym or with fitness that you’d like to remedy?
If I knew of a site where I could just ask a question about lifting and find a good answer, I wouldn’t have wasted so much time in the gym, I also wouldn’t have made the mistakes I did and I would have surely enjoyed more success in sports and in other areas of life as well.
So ask away and don’t hold back no matter how dumb or unimportant you may think the question is, odds are I’ve been there at some point too.
