Building your ideal body is a challenge. At its core, getting in awesome shape can be a very simple thing, but the amount of things that can knock us off track if we let them can spell the end in a lot of cases.
We can start out extremely motivated, but end up losing that hunger after only a few weeks. Sometimes we want to get in great shape, but we just don’t know where to start and we never take action. We keep on putting it off until we see it as ‘too late’ to make a change.
To build your dream body – or even to simply get in really good shape – you need consistency, a plan that works but also challenges you, and a motivation plan. You need to strike an emotional chord that keeps you coming back to the gym week after week until it becomes routine.
If I don’t get into the gym at least 4 times a week, and do something active on those other days, I can be a grumpy dude. It’s just a part of my life. You don’t have to get to that point. But I guarantee you will get to that point once you start seeing results.
Where do you stand?
A lot of us think we’re in good shape, but are we?
I wish there were some guideline around when I first started training that told me exactly where I was in comparison with other people, and gave me the means to get to that next level.
In anything in life it’s important to know where you’re at, and know what you have to do to get to where you want to be. If you think you’re in amazing shape when you’re actually a plug, you’re not going to be doing the things you need to do to get to that next level. Just like if you think y0u’re the world’s best salesman, you might not take the necessary steps that’ll take you to the next level. There needs to be that fine balance of confidence and humility.
That’s why I like incorporating challenges into my programs, to let people know exactly where they stand, but also showing them exactly what they need to do to get to that next level and reach their goals… and then some.
The PowerHowse Challenge at the end of this article has a unique challenge. It’s tough. And it’ll show you where you are, then the 47 pages of information-rich content will give you a ton of unique strategies to reach your training goals.
Results can be discouraging
The thing with tests, is that the results can be pretty discouraging. If you’re not where you thought you were, it can suck. It can be a bit of a slap in the face. And that is what will separate those who will succeed apart from those who won’t.
The world is a hard place. We ALL experience loss and failure. Disappointment and suffering. Some of us will push on and others will quit, or stand still. Quitting and standing still are pretty much the same thing. Standing still and not taking action or moving forward might even require less courage than quitting.
But those who push forward and strive to improve daily, will see success. It’s just a matter of time.
Getting a shitty result can be discouraging. But it can also be motivating. It’s our choice. Do we take this as an opportunity to improve, or do we see this as a mountain that’s just a bit too tough to climb?
After the testimonials I’ve received from people who have taken started the PowerHowse Challenge Program, it’s clear that no matter your situation, every one of us has the ability to improve and to build a better body – or life for that matter.
