I don’t think he meant that you should work past 7pm every day.

Short and sweet. It’s all about those little rare moments. They don’t always come but when they do you have to jump on it and be in that moment and not worry about tomorrow or yesterday.

It would probably work if you’re single, and live alone. BUT there are other values, too. If you live with family, it’s only fair to give them your time, too. Sitting in the office until 7 isn’t good while your kids are young – they’ll be in bed when you get home, and won’t relate to you in the way they could if you’re home more. Arriving home late when your partner has cooked you a meal isn’t the most appreciative way of showing her how much you care! Sometimes it’s also good to let clients know that they aren’t the only thing in your life. There is a work/life balance to be met – sometimes you need to work late to get something really important finished, but other times you need to get away from work and live life. I know it’s a cliche, but listen to the old song “Cat’s in the cradle” by Harry Chapin. I wish I heeded it when my kids were growing up and I had a misplaced sense of duty to the company I ran. I can’t get that time back. I now work to live, not live to work!
