Sun, 20 Aug 2017 13:49:00 +0000http://chadhowsefitness.com/?p=10652#comment-27838When I went into the Army National Guard in 2003, we were told, ” It’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when’ (concerning a deployment to Iraq.), We started the trainup in June of 2004, down in Texas. Mind you, back then I weighed about 227 pounds and not a bit of it was atheletic weight, I got that way from eating a lot of fast food and the regular consumption of two foot hoagie sandwiches. At 5’9″‘ I was practically a little butterball and paid the price on runs.
By my second deployment, I had gotten my weight down and my fitness and stamina haf gotten better, but I was having issues with my upper body structure, when I returned stateside, a mri showed that both of my rotator cuffs were torn, and an x-ray showed arthritis and degenerative discs in my neck. The shoulder issue has since been resolved and I’m keeping the neck issue in check.
The main thing is, I started doing joint exercises from the neck down when I was overseas, minimal equipment, when I hit the fifty year old mark, I really made the commitment to take charge of my health and this system I’m still fine tuning is making me stronger, and healthier. I’m finally under 200 pounds and know where my healthiest, most atheletic weight is.
Anyone really serious obout their fitness should know that it will take a lot of work and trial and error, but it can be done. Make the serious commitment.
