I think it’s great how you brought up the grip issue. I’d like to point out that you may also run into issues of the erector spinae giving out before larger working muscle groups such as the hamstrings and glutes. You also have a concentric dominate lift that doesn’t involve dynamic contractions, as well as a limited range of motion. Respectfully, I think the conventional deadlift has it’s place but is definitely overrated when stated as ‘the king of upper body mass builders’. If you do choose to use straps, yes you can move more weight but your grip strength will suffer. If anything it’s a stronger lower body and lower back lift.
