I sincerely hope you realize the impact of what you write. I’m not blowing smoke, what you write is timely and necessary and this article is no exception.
I grew up being told that I was special and somehow unique. All very well-intentioned, my parents and teachers/professors could not have done me a greater DISSERVICE. As a result I grew up believing good things would just be dumped in my lap, after all, I’m something “special”. Honestly, it made me so lazy. Why work for something that you’re convinced you’re going to eventually attain without lifting a finger? Everything you wrote is absolutely spot-on. I’ve had to learn that I’m entitled to nothing I haven’t fought or worked for. I now have myriad scars from life lessons and battles, but I’m grateful for it. It’s created a grit, a thicker skin, a genuine confidence I could not have learned otherwise.
You’re doing great and necessary work, Chad. Appreciate you, keep it up.
Matt Castle
