Yes, I agree. I completely agree that people can become more powerful than they are.

However, I think it is important to keep in mind that it can be a long process of breaking free of false assumptions and limiting beliefs that can impede personal growth (towards a particular goal). Possibly a very long process… and might need a strong catalyst.

Where the article points out some oblivious limiting beliefs, it adds non-true assumptions to the mix too.

If you goal is to inspire changes of behavior, I would look into books and articles about cognitive behavior therapy. I strongly feel there are experts in this field that are more advanced in the topic and possess a greater understanding of the human psyche.

A lot of what you write about in the “Be Legendary” section shares a lot similarities to the study of cognitive behavior therapy. You seem to have some of the same goals and objectives of CBT.

Just as you didn’t just go out and write the Man’s diet without studying nutrition to formulate an informed opinion, I think your purpose on this section would benefit from looking at how difficult problems are handled professionally for people who have more extreme action inhibiting problems than your common reader. Again, really, just my opinion. Like nutritional or exercise advice from a newbie ought be taken with a gain of salt, I feel that a lot of what you say in section should be as well.

Here’s the thing, the solution for each of those conditions is action. In some form action needs to be taken, it has to land in the lap of the individual on some level. People have more power than they realize, that’s the point.

We have more power over everything in our lives, when we realize this, there isn’t much that can stop us.

Merely telling someone to get off their butt and work hard is not very helpful for most people…

How effective is getting off your butt and working hard for curing physical pain?

Just about everybody has heard this type of advice before. I feel like most people generally want to improve their life’s. Many get stuck.

I disagree with you. The truths of this blog don’t just apply to finances and could help with the issues you mentioned in your first sentence. Getting off your butt and working hard is better for depression, obesity and physical pain than any medication or social program.

I’m not saying that these people are helpless, but sometimes action must be taken to address these biological and physical concerns first. Like a change in diet, external support, meds, exercise, etc. I can see how the tone of the beginning of the article can rub someone the wrong way. I’m all for personal development and improvement. I think that the old “get up by your boot straps” philosophy isn’t a cure all. You can’t just tell someone to stop complaining and think positive and expect results/insight.. As much as we like to think of the mind as a separate entity from the body, it’s not.

Really, a lot of solid advice. But I feel it’s presented in a way that is not helpful or applicable to many. Could use more empathy for the downtrodden.
