Comments on: How To Find Yourself https://chadhowsefitness.com/2014/11/how-to-find-yourself/ Bringing Back Manliness. Fri, 08 May 2015 16:11:00 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 By: Cody Hoyt https://chadhowsefitness.com/2014/11/how-to-find-yourself/#comment-26714 Fri, 08 May 2015 16:11:00 +0000 http://www.chadhowsefitness.com/?p=8800#comment-26714 Another great post Chad. Your thoughts on finding oneself not being the mission, rather the result, is as powerful as one of the overarching themes I’ve drawn from Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning.” The theme I’m referring to is his belief that happiness cannot be pursued but must instead ensue. So many people search for “happiness” or to “find themselves,” which I have also done at times, but have found the pursuit of either to be entirely futile. It’s as if chasing a moving target in the dark. Instead I have chosen to focus on spending time with people I care about, grinding, hustling, doing things I get enjoyment out of, pursuing a sense of accomplishment. This has all pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Only outside of the realm of comfort have I begun to understand what my definition of happiness is, and who I truly am.

Thanks for the help along the way.

Which is hard to do without direction, but also without reflection.

Glad I can help man! Traveling alone is the only way to go in my mind. Self-discovery, challenges, solitude, doing what you want when you want…. It’s the way to do it.

See, I’ve been wanting to do all the things I didn’t get to do in my twenties because I was working my ass off to get where I’m at now, and now that I have the money and time to travel, I’m a bit nervous to go at it alone. Your article, Chad, is a stark reminder that I need to get out and see the world before life passes me by even if it means doing it alone.
