At 26, there are very few men outside of my family I would consider role models. It’s a sea of “dudes”. All of the upstanding men are wasting away in nursing homes. The ones who will shock you with candid speech. The ones who stood up straight, look you in the eye and tell you if something isn’t right even when everyone else is content to go along with the group. He rarely complains about what others should do because more times than not, he already did it himself and didn’t need to publicize it. I’m ashamed to admit I’m lost.

“The warrior isn’t born a warrior. He chooses to act like one once, which leads to acting like one once again. He does this until he knows no other way to act.”

War is omnipresent, to some a demoralizing eventual fate of all cities, and to others “the [Heraclitean] father of all things,” i.e. the spur to all forms of virtue and excellence. We should be as energized and passionate about our commitment to our utmost values and self-culture as the warrior must be in learning the arts upon which his very life will depend.

Wow man I really appreciate this. It really means a lot. You have an interesting story, it seems like you’re still growing, learning, and evolving. My Old Man asked a buddy of his that’s around 10 years older than you, “what are you learning these days”… the dumb ass said, “oh, I’m done with that, I don’t have a whole lot left to learn.”

… You may as well die when you think you’ve stopped learning. Great to read a comment like this. Keeps me going man. Thanks.

This article hit me hard like most posts here. Chad your writings are legendary and will live past your time. Im sure some day 100 years from now people still be talking about the Legendary Canuck.

For now, know your writings help guys older than you like myself. The messages here speak of a time when men want role models. I remember watching john wayne movies want wanting to be like him. What i did not know was he actually hugged his sons and wanted to show this in his movies but hollywood said no. He was a mans man. Someone my generation looked up to a man of courage depth character action. He was a warrior not a worrior. One letter changes an entire word. Today we are more concerned about being politically correct, nicey, pleasing, wimpy cowardly. Atleast thats how my life went for the last 49 years. Until being let go with out cause. We dont fire people anymore we sugar coat it. I got my ass fired I DID NOT LIKE but it happened. Your blog has helped me to heal and move on.

What I see are young men who are struggling with the very same things I did at their age. Back then if guys like you existed i dont know of any wat to find them. Men today have instant access to such information likes your writings. They also write about trransformations happening in themselves, something is needed today.
Thanks and reminding us to be Local Legends in our communities.
