I’m 31 and find myself wondering all the time if I’m past my prime, if I had my shot to make a name for myself. I’m aiming for a career in law enforcement but I worry that I’m getting in the game too late to be of any use.

I know, right? This is what I would expect to hear from a 70 year old guy, yet we hear it from a 27 year old one. I guess one does not have to be all that old to be wise.

Amazing post! All this is completely true. I'm sixteen and come from a home schooled family of nine kids. Since we spend a lot of our time in the same place, we have plenty of opportunity to help each other and work together. However, every family should help each other, right? Well, when we go somewhere, be it a movie, playground, store, we are almost always complemented on our good behavior. It's kinda embarrassing. For kids, not behaving well is the norm so when you just behave properly, it's like we're heroes, but we're not, we're just how we should be.
Sorry for the rambling comment, but when I read your post I thought, "This sounds very familiar."
