Wow, your Mom sounds like a great woman John. Her outlook on life, and in the face of the struggles she faced is inspiring and I respect the hell out of her. Thanks for posting this.

"
Its good to read your attitude , fitness is as much mental and spiritual as physical .

Joe, agreed! It changes when it's someone close to you. A family member or someone that you care about. There's a sense of pride there that you and me both feel from our grandparents succeeding when it didn't seem all that likely that they would.

Thanks for the comment man, great thought!

Like yours, my Nonna was an immigrant that came to this country during the Depression, looking for a better life in America. When you look back, immigrants should have had very little opportunity here. But my grandparents did fairly well, working jobs and running businesses and raising their family. They had many challenges in this country, but they met them head on.

The stories of Warner and Lincoln are amazing, and parallel the insurmountable challenges Depression era immigrants faced. I'm inspired by them all, but my grandparents and their way of life continue to inspire me to this day!

Another great point in this post is that the harder we work towards something, the more we value the reward at the end. The more we have to endure hardships, the more difficult the battles we face get, the sweeter the end result will be! I'm working on transforming my body (I have a very similar story to yours), and I know that the end result will make me feel so accomplished and confident because of how hard the journey there was! Thanks for all the motivation man! Keep up the amazing work in and out of the gym!
