Start putting them back into your routine for sure, use a supinated and a pronated grip, work both sides of the forearm.

I'd say you're fine, you just have to work on your grip strength. Do you feel it in your chin-ups in any other exercises?

Maybe I have a technique issue, but I focus on letting my back muscles lift the weight, not my arms. Still feel it in the forearms.
