Great post. I think along the same lines, that we have control over who we are. I look at guys like James J. Braddock. He didn't have control over his circumstances, and his circumstances sucked. He could have thrown in the towel and given up. But what did he do? He controlled who he was, and became the Heavyweight Champion of the World.

I also like your 4 steps. You have said it before, and I agree, that if there is something that you think about every day, go after it: Get immersed, study it, do it right, don't take the shortcuts that lead nowhere, and you can be proud of who you are. There is no shame in giving everything you are to something, or someone, you love.

In the point of learning from others but being unique, reminds me of when I was young and playing tennis. I would watch the top players play and then try to emulate their style. What I found was that I took elements from different players that worked well for me and ended up creating my own style.

You gave a lot for us to think about. It is so true that laziness is the real culprit of true greatness. Not everyone has an abundance of talent, great wealth to start something or a lot of luck, but everyone can get off their ass and work tirelessly toward greatness.

I have the same mind set, and I definitely take pride in that. I also like to believe I can go further than the rest of the pack.

One thing I noticed, and it makes me so excited about everything I do is not a lot of people is ready to go far ahead, most like the idea of staying in the middle and just bowing their heads down. I guess it leaves a lot more space for personal success.
