Comments on: The Complaining Generation? https://chadhowsefitness.com/2010/06/the-complaining-generation/ Bringing Back Manliness. Sun, 10 Mar 2013 15:17:00 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 By: Josh https://chadhowsefitness.com/2010/06/the-complaining-generation/#comment-23323 Sun, 10 Mar 2013 15:17:00 +0000 http://www.chadhowsefitness.com/?p=982#comment-23323 I think there’s just as much out there to complain about today as there has been in the past. WWII men could’ve complained and complained about having to work hard to feed their families when they returned from war just like young adults today can complain about having to work hard to feed themselves after grad school. The difference, I think, is that today there’s also a lot more out there in society that’s saying it’s okay to complain. We’ve made it alright to have your problems heard no matter what they are. For me, personally, I know I get upset and complain about more than my fair share (which I’m trying to stop), but one of the biggest reasons for me doing so is that the people around me will listen. I’m friends with a lot of girls, and, naturally, they’ll listen to me; that’s what girls do to vent. My family will also listen to me, because they want to see me happy and successful. However, I also know when I’m around certain people, notably my male friends, I don’t complain and they don’t complain; our lives are just our lives and that’s how it is. We have a couple beers, joke about, and have fun. I think it’s okay to get upset about stuff, but the unfortunate thing today is that drawing attention to the negative points in your life is the easiest and quickest way to get attention from others. The true reason behind our complaining today, in my opinion, is that it’s easy and “work free” to get attention from the people around you by complaining.
